First World War online & EuropeanaJan 30 2014
A two-day conference with the title 'Unlocking Sources - The First World War online & Europeana' will take at the Berlin State Library, Germany on 30-31 January 2014.
Held in the year of the commemoration of the beginning of the First World War, the conference will offer the opportunity to present the results of the work carried out by three European projects: Europeana Collections 1914-1918, European Film Gateway 1914, and Europeana 1914-1918. These projects have digitised hundreds of thousands of resources from archives, museums, libraries and private people, which for the first time will be made available on-line through Europeana.
The event aims to address a range of questions, such as: how do digitised materials fit into research and teaching? How can different on-line activities contribute to the 'digital humanities? What ideas for the teaching of history in schools, museums, and media could be developed?
